EuroLeague leaders visit Israel as clubs seek to host games there

EuroLeague CEO Chus Bueno and competitions manager Diego Guillen traveled to Tel Aviv, Israel.

They attended Maccabi Tel Aviv’s opening game in the local league and met with European ambassadors and club leaders.

Maccabi and Hapoel Tel Aviv want permission to play their EuroLeague home games in Israel.

The visitors were briefed on local security and daily life, according to Maccabi.

International games are currently not being held in Israel because of the situation in the Middle East.

Maccabi is playing in Belgrade, Serbia, and intends to move to Cyprus, while Hapoel is playing in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The visit focused on the possibility of bringing EuroLeague games back to Israel, but the source gives no decision or timetable.
