Former Palestinian detainees report severe hunger and abuse in Israeli prisons

Five former Palestinian detainees told Haaretz they lost 15% to 50% of their body weight in Israeli prisons.

They also described beatings and scabies outbreaks.

The report says a court had ordered adequate food and the return of Red Cross visits, but conditions did not change.

The accounts raise concerns about detainees’ treatment and access to basic care.
