Tom Morello Holds Randy Rhoads’ Guitar for the First Time

Tom Morello got to hold Randy Rhoads’ guitar after asking to see it.

Rhoads was the guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, and Morello has long admired his playing.

The guitar is a Jackson Concorde, a Flying V-inspired instrument associated with Rhoads.

After Rhoads died, his mother asked that the guitar never be played again, and his family has kept it closely protected.

Morello first missed a chance to see it when it was at his sister’s home on its way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

His sister later invited him to hold it when it returned to her home.

Morello said the moment was emotional and that the guitar strap still smelled of cigarette smoke.

The instrument remains unplayed, in keeping with the family’s request.
