Alvinho Lira elected Brazil’s youngest federal deputy under revised age rule
Brazil’s Constitution sets 21 as the minimum age for federal deputies.
A law passed last year changed when a candidate must meet that age, allowing Alvinho Lira, who is 20, to be elected.
He is due to turn 21 39 days after taking office.
The change has drawn criticism from lawmakers who said it appeared designed to help Lira, the son of politician Arthur Lira.
