Gelatin sticks blast in locked Kolhapur house triggers probe

Something very dangerous called gelatin sticks exploded inside a locked house in a neighbourhood in Kolhapur, India.

Gelatin sticks are very strong explosives that are normally used for mining and road construction, not by regular people.

The blast was so powerful that it blew apart one wall of the house and broke the windows of other homes nearby.

It also wrecked the furniture inside and left piles of broken debris all around.

Luckily, nobody was hurt because the house was empty and had been locked for months.

The house belonged to a woman named Shashikala Bodiskar, who had passed away about a year earlier.

Frightened neighbours called the police, who quickly came and closed off the area.

Detectives and a special forensic team are now trying to figure out how the explosive sticks got into the locked house.

They are also checking whether the blast was an accident, part of a bigger plan, or meant to damage the house on purpose.
