Pune Metro Line 3 Nears Completion, Targets 2026 Opening
Pune is building a new metro line between its western areas and central Pune.
The line will connect places such as Hinjawadi, Wakad, Balewadi, Baner and Shivajinagar.
Work on 12 stations between Maan and Ramnagar has been completed.
Five more stations in the Shivajinagar area are close to completion.
The first planned service will run between Maan and District Court in 2026.
Before passengers can use it, the remaining work must finish.
The line also needs safety and other official approvals.
It is expected to give commuters another way to travel and reduce road traffic.
Construction of all 12 stations between Maan and Ramnagar has been completed, according to the project update.
Five of the seven stations in the Chhatrapati Shivajinagar area are also nearing completion.
The Maan–District Court section is targeted to begin metro services in 2026, subject to remaining work and approvals.
The 23.203-kilometre elevated corridor will connect Maan, Hinjawadi, Wakad, Balewadi, Baner, Shivajinagar and Civil Court.
The ₹8,313-crore project is being developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority and is expected to ease western Pune traffic.
