Legal Notice Seeks Equal BMC Arrangements For Eid-e-Milad Processions
A group of Mumbai citizens wants the city government to prepare properly for Eid-e-Milad processions.
The processions are planned for August 26.
The group says there should be clean streets, drinking water, medical help, lights, toilets and traffic controls.
It says the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had approved Rs 2 crore each year for these arrangements.
The group also says other festivals have received much more civic spending.
It has asked the BMC to announce plans for each ward by August 25.
If the city does not act, the group says it may approach the Bombay High Court.

A citizens’ forum served a legal notice on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ahead of Mumbai’s August 26 Eid-e-Milad processions.
The notice seeks sanitation, water, medical, lighting, barricading and traffic arrangements across affected wards.
It cites a claimed Rs 2 crore annual allocation sanctioned by the BMC Standing Committee in November 2019.
The representation alleges unequal civic spending, comparing the allocation with reported Rs 54.47 crore Ganeshotsav spending in 2024-25.
The notice gives the BMC until 5 pm on August 25 and threatens urgent Bombay High Court proceedings if demands are not met.
