NCW Chairperson Reviews Women’s Welfare and Jail Rehabilitation in Hoshiarpur

Vijaya K Rahatkar visited a jail in Hoshiarpur to speak with women prisoners.

She encouraged them to plan for a better life after finishing their sentences.

She said education, skills and self-employment could help them become financially independent.

She also asked inmates involved in drug-related cases to avoid such activities in the future.

Rahatkar checked the jail’s food, accommodation, healthcare and legal aid arrangements.

She inspected how babies and young children living with their mothers were being cared for.

Later, she met officials to review government programmes designed to support women.

She also praised women’s self-help groups and encouraged better training, market access and financial support.
