Vijayawada Fashion Show Highlights Handloom Dresses on National Handloom Day

In the city of Vijayawada, students put on a colorful fashion show with clothes made from handloom fabrics.

The show was part of National Handloom Day celebrations.

It was organized by the Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh together with Andhra Loyola College.

Students from three different schools took part in the show.

A designer named Satish Poludas, who studied at a famous design school in Ahmedabad, spoke to the students.

He said the handloom industry needs protection because it is vulnerable.

He stressed that traditional weaving knowledge should be saved and passed on to future generations.

He is also helping to bring back old practices like growing desi cotton and indigo.

The celebrations aimed to encourage younger people to appreciate and promote traditional Indian textiles.

At the end, gifts and certificates were given to everyone who helped with the event.
