Uttarakhand Plans Dehradun Centre to Market SHG Products
Uttarakhand plans to open a new centre in Dehradun to help village groups sell their products.
These groups are called Self-Help Groups, or SHGs.
They make items such as spices, grains, honey, pickles, woollen goods and handicrafts.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the government is helping women, young people and rural entrepreneurs with training, money, advice and markets.
More than 13,000 entrepreneurs have received support through a government programme.
More than five lakh rural women belong to over 70,000 Self-Help Groups.
The government hopes better business opportunities will help people earn money without leaving their villages.
It is also holding meetings and sending publicity vans to explain government schemes in all 13 districts.
Uttarakhand will establish a state-level marketing centre for Self-Help Group products at 13 Gaon in Dehradun’s IT Park.
