Key accused in gangster murder arrested from Surat jail
Rahul Mandal is a man who was already in jail, but the police came to talk to him about a serious crime.
They think he told other people to attack a man named Satish Maratha.
Mr. Maratha was a very dangerous gangster.
On August 5, a group of about ten men stopped his car.
They hurt him with sharp weapons and also fired guns.
Sadly, Mr. Maratha died from the attack.
The police arrested Mr. Mandal from Surat Central Jail.
He was brought to a court, and a judge said police could keep him in custody until August 15.
The police are still trying to find out exactly what happened.
Surat police arrested gangster Rahul Mandal from Surat Central Jail for allegedly ordering the murder of rival gangster Satish Maratha.
Bhestan police took Mandal, a resident of Santoshinagar in Limbayat, into custody on Monday evening.
Mandal was produced before the Surat district court on Tuesday and remanded to police custody till August 15.
Maratha, a notorious gangster, was allegedly killed by a gang of around 10 in the Bhestan area on August 5.
The attackers waylaid Maratha's car, used sharp-edged weapons, and fired three rounds from firearms.
