Transport Minister Reviews Electric Bus Production at Switch Mobility Plant

The person in charge of transportation in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu visited a factory that makes big electric buses.

The factory, called Switch Mobility, is in a place called Ennore, near the city of Chennai.

He wanted to see how the work on a new group of electric buses was going.

Electric buses run on batteries instead of petrol or diesel, so they do not make dirty smoke and are better for the environment.

The government of Tamil Nadu, led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, wants to make public buses modern and clean.

Earlier, the state bought 625 low-floor electric buses with money from the World Bank and another bank called AIIB.

Now they are planning to get 750 more buses, and these new buses will have air conditioning too.

The city bus service, called MTC, runs thousands of buses and carries millions of passengers every day.

Some people, like students, women, senior citizens, and people with disabilities, can ride the bus for free.

The minister asked the factory to work faster so the new buses will be ready on time.
