Jadavpur University Forms Committee to Plan PM-USHA Funds
Jadavpur University has created a committee with 24 members.
The committee will decide how money from a central education scheme should be used.
The scheme is called PM-USHA.
Acting Registrar Debjit Dutta will lead the committee’s work as its convener.
Its plans will later be sent to the university’s Executive Council.
Earlier, the West Bengal government had not agreed to the scheme because it objected to the “PM” name.
The current state administration has agreed to the scheme.
The university also expects Rs 250 crore from the state for buildings, facilities and research.

Acting Registrar Debjit Dutta will convene the committee, whose proposals will go to the Executive Council.
PM-USHA is the Centre’s revised version of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan.
West Bengal’s previous Trinamool Congress government had objected to the scheme’s “PM” prefix, delaying access to funds.
The university has also formed an Institute of Eminence Committee after the state approved Rs 250 crore for infrastructure and research.
