Meghalaya CM Releases ₹93.7 Crore Scholarship To ST Students
Meghalaya has released scholarship money for 96,812 students from Scheduled Tribe communities.
The first payment is worth ₹93.7 crore.
The money will go straight into students’ bank accounts.
It can help pay for tuition, hostels, books and other study materials.
The payment was delayed because a new system for sending the money had to be introduced.
Students may receive the money within four to five working days.
Some payments may fail if bank or Aadhaar details do not match.
Officials will check these problems and help eligible students receive the money.
Applications for the next academic year’s scholarships are open until November 30.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma released the first scholarship instalment for 96,812 ST students.
The ₹93.7 crore payment covers 40% of the Umbrella Post-Matric Scholarship outlay for 2025-26.
Funds will be transferred directly to students’ bank accounts through the new Single Nodal Agency system.
The total estimated scholarship expenditure for the academic year is ₹198.42 crore.
The 2026-27 National Scholarship Portal opened on July 3 and will accept applications until November 30.
