Maharashtra Records 46.53 Lakh Higher Education Enrolments Across 7,893 Institutions

Maharashtra is a big state in India where lots of students go to college.

The government says more than 46 lakh students are studying there, which is over four and a half million people.

That makes Maharashtra one of the top seven states in the country for student numbers.

The state has 87 universities, more than 5,000 colleges, and over 2,000 other learning centres.

Across the whole of India there are more than 1,200 universities and tens of thousands of colleges.

The government also gives money to help colleges in Maharashtra grow.

It approved 144 projects worth about Rs 1,431 crore to improve buildings and help places that need more schools.

A program called RUSA helps pay for this, and its newer version, PM-USHA, started in June 2023.

The program will run until 2026 and has lots of money set aside for it.

So the government is working to make it easier for students in Maharashtra to get a good education.
