International students join SPMVV course to explore Indian heritage
A university in India is hosting a special one-week class about Indian culture.
Students from faraway countries like Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangladesh and Botswana came to join it.
They are learning about Indian festivals, food, music, dance, yoga and temples.
They will also visit towns and villages to see traditions up close.
The students will share their own customs with Indian students too.
This helps everyone learn about each other's cultures.
The university leaders hope the students make friends and keep in touch after the week ends.
Understanding different cultures helps people respect one another.
SPMVV in Tirupati is running a week-long Bridge Course on Indian Heritage and Culture under the PM-USHA scheme.
Students from Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangladesh and Botswana are participating alongside selected SPMVV students.
The course covers Indian traditions, family practices, languages, festivals, yoga, music, dance, cuisine, temple architecture and traditional crafts.
Seven academic and cross-cultural sessions and three practical cultural activities are planned, along with visits to temples, Sri Kalahasti, markets and rural communities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof V Uma urged the international students to interact with local communities to better understand Indian culture.
