India Reports LPG, CNG, PNG Rates Amid Supply Shift
The reports list the prices of cooking gas and vehicle gas in several Indian cities for August 25 and August 26.
LPG is usually sold in cylinders, while PNG is delivered through pipes and CNG is commonly used by vehicles.
The listed prices are the same on both days.
A household LPG cylinder costs different amounts in different cities.
India is buying more LPG and LNG from the United States because some traditional Gulf supply routes have been disrupted.
The government also wants oil companies to sign more long-term US LPG contracts for 2027.
It has set possible production levels for 21 refineries and upstream companies to strengthen domestic supplies.
Officials are encouraging households to use PNG where it is available, while rules restrict keeping both LPG and PNG connections in the same household.
Prices for household and commercial LPG, CNG and PNG were unchanged in the August 25 and August 26 listings.
A 14.2-kg LPG cylinder costs ₹942 in Delhi, ₹941.50 in Mumbai and ₹994 in Hyderabad.
Commercial 19-kg LPG cylinders range from ₹2,691.50 in Mumbai to ₹2,985 in Hyderabad.
India has increased LPG and LNG purchases from the United States as Gulf supplies face disruption linked to the West Asia conflict.
The government plans to diversify LPG imports, expand domestic production and encourage households to adopt PNG where available.
