Odisha's Delhi outreach nets Rs 66,392 crore investment proposals: Majhi
The state government of Odisha, which is a state in India, went to New Delhi, the capital city of India, for a two-day trip to meet business leaders.
They wanted to invite companies to build factories and offices in Odisha.
Companies said they would invest a huge amount of money—about 66,392 crore rupees—which is an extremely big number.
This money could help create more than 54,000 jobs for people in Odisha.
The government signed 38 special agreements with companies for projects worth almost 65,000 crore rupees.
The Chief Minister also visited a factory that makes electronic products to learn about modern manufacturing.
The government says this shows companies trust Odisha and want to grow there.
But some people from the opposition party say that promises don't always turn into real projects.
They said that earlier a company promised a big investment but left, and that very little foreign money actually came to Odisha last year.
So while leaders are happy about the new promises, others want to see real results.
Odisha received investment proposals worth Rs 66,392 crore during its two-day investor outreach in New Delhi, with the potential to generate 54,135 jobs.
The state signed 38 MoUs worth Rs 64,703 crore and received Investment Intention Forms worth Rs 1,689 crore.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the Haier manufacturing facility in Noida and held one-on-one meetings with senior industry leaders.
Sector roundtables on engineering goods, textiles and apparel, and aluminium ancillary and downstream industries were held with the Indian Industries Association, Noida Apparel Export Cluster and NALCO.
Opposition BJD questioned how many proposals will convert into actual projects, citing the SRAM & MRAM MoU and Odisha's Rs 39 crore FDI in 2024-25.

Investment proposal credibility

The Rs 66,392 crore in proposals reflect growing industry confidence in Odisha's investment ecosystem, and the government is working to convert this interest into projects on the ground.
Opposition BJD
BJD questioned how many of the announced proposals translate into actual projects, noting investor meets held in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Gujarat, Singapore and Japan over the past two years with few verifiable results.
Industrial retention and FDI record
