Aadhaar App Crosses Five Crore Downloads as Verification Expands
The Aadhaar app has been downloaded more than 5 crore times.
People use it on their phones for several Aadhaar services.
They can update their mobile number, address and email address.
They can also lock or unlock their biometrics and download e-Aadhaar.
Millions of updates have already been completed through the app.
UIDAI has also added more than 200 organisations to its offline verification system.
These organisations can check identity details using QR codes or digitally signed documents.
They do not need a live connection to UIDAI’s central database.
Users can give permission and share only the information that is needed.
The Aadhaar app has surpassed 5 crore, or 50 million, downloads, according to the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
Users have completed more than 60 lakh mobile-number updates, 15 lakh address updates and 23 lakh email updates through the app.
The app also offers biometric lock and unlock, e-Aadhaar downloads and identity-verification features.
UIDAI has onboarded more than 200 Offline Verification Seeking Entities since the offline system was rolled out in January.
Offline verification uses QR codes and digitally signed documents, allowing consent-based checks without real-time access to UIDAI’s central database.
