Karnataka Police Detain 1,909 Suspected Illegal Immigrants in Crackdown

Early one Saturday morning, police officers in the city of Bengaluru in India worked together on a big job.

They searched many different places at the same time to find people who might not have permission to live in India.

In total, they stopped and questioned almost 2,000 people.

After checking documents, the police found 15 people who came from Bangladesh without the right papers.

Those people had fake identity cards that said they were from other parts of India, like West Bengal and Assam.

The police are still checking the papers of the other people to make sure everything is okay.

A police leader told the public that if they suspect someone does not have permission to be in India, they should tell the police.

He warned that regular people should not go into shelters or threaten others by themselves.

Doing that, which he called 'moral policing,' is against the law, and those people could face legal action.
