Modified Devices Recovered From Four Candidates at IIT Bombay
A big exam was happening at a famous college called IIT Bombay in Mumbai.
The exam was to hire people for jobs like peons at a university.
Special machines called jammers were put in all the exam rooms to stop phones from working.
Still, some people tried to use specially changed phones to cheat.
A teacher saw one person acting suspiciously and checked him.
The person had a strange device in his pocket and tried to run away, but guards stopped him.
Three more people were also found with similar devices.
The police took the phones and registered a case.
They are now asking more questions to find out what happened.
Cheating on an exam is against the law, so the accused could be in trouble.
Four candidates were booked for allegedly using modified mobile phones to cheat in a Group-D Multi-Tasking Staff recruitment examination at IIT Bombay's Powai campus.
The examination was conducted by Central Sanskrit University for the Group-D 'peon' post, with 324 candidates expected across 14 rooms.
Mobile jammers were installed in every room and candidates underwent security checks, yet the accused still allegedly brought in modified electronic devices.
An invigilator in Room No. 26 spotted a suspicious candidate; a modified device was recovered after he allegedly tried to flee during a full-body scan.
Powai Police seized around five mobile phones and registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS); the accused are reportedly from Haryana.
