Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's Wife Sangeetha Withdraws Divorce Petition
A very famous actor named Vijay became the Chief Minister of a place in India called Tamil Nadu.
His wife, Sangeetha, felt very sad and asked a court to end their marriage.
She told the court that her husband had a secret relationship with an actress and that he stopped caring for her.
The court heard her complaints, and the case was postponed several times.
Later, Sangeetha changed her mind.
On a Friday, she talked to the judge through a video screen and said she no longer wanted the divorce.
The judge asked her questions for about fifteen minutes and then closed the case.
The court said she could come back and file again in the future if she wanted.
The couple has two children, a son and a daughter.
So the long court fight over their marriage is now finished.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C. Joseph Vijay's wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, withdrew her divorce petition on Friday, and the Chengalpattu Family Court formally closed the case.
Sangeetha appeared before Judge Sujatha via video conference, was questioned for around 15 minutes, and the court disposed of her petition as withdrawn, giving her liberty to file afresh if required.
Her petition, filed in February 2026 under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, alleged an 'adulterous relationship' with an actress (reportedly discovered in April 2021), persistent mental cruelty, neglect, desertion and an 'irretrievably broken down' marriage.
The case was first heard on February 26, postponed to April 20 just before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, deferred in July when neither party appeared, and adjourned on June 15 to August 7.
The withdrawal follows the Madras High Court's dismissal of a petition by Perambur voter Venkatesh questioning Vijay's election affidavit disclosure of a Rs 12.60 crore loan to Sangeetha and Rs 20 crore to a private educational trust.
