Heavy rain forecast for Chengalpattu, Villupuram; Chennai evening showers
The weather experts in Chennai have told people that it is going to rain a lot in some parts of Tamil Nadu.
On Tuesday, heavy rain with thunder and lightning may fall in Chengalpattu and Villupuram.
On Wednesday, even more places like Chennai, Tiruvallur and the Nilgiris could get heavy showers.
The rain is happening because of a weak weather system near the coast that is pulling in moisture.
Some places near the Western Ghats and the northern coast may get moderate rain too.
While it rains in some areas, other parts of the state may stay very hot.
The temperature in northern interior districts could be up to four degrees hotter than normal.
In Chennai, the sky will be partly cloudy, and some parts of the city may get rain at night.
People are told to be careful during thunderstorms because of lightning and water on the roads.
Drivers should watch out for slippery roads and low visibility if heavy rain comes during rush hour.
Chengalpattu and Villupuram districts are likely to receive heavy rain on Tuesday due to a weak atmospheric circulation over Tamil Nadu's coastal areas.
Heavy showers are forecast for Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Villupuram and the Nilgiris on Wednesday.
Interior northern districts of Tamil Nadu may see maximum temperatures up to four degrees Celsius above normal over the next four days.
Chennai is expected to have a partly cloudy sky with possible thunderstorms and rain in a few parts of the city during the evening or night.
The weather office advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms, especially in areas vulnerable to lightning and temporary waterlogging.
