CMC Directs Zomato, Swiggy to Delist Non-Compliant Food Outlets
A city office called the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation makes sure restaurants are safe and clean.
It told the food delivery apps Zomato and Swiggy to check that every restaurant on their apps has the right licence to sell food.
In India, restaurants need a special food safety licence from an organization called FSSAI.
The apps must remove restaurants that keep breaking food safety and hygiene rules.
They also have to make sure that many restaurants do not share one licence to pretend they are okay.
The city officials said Zomato and Swiggy agreed to help them with these safety checks.
Next, the office will check shops that sell meat to make sure the meat is safe to eat and stored properly.
After that, they will also inspect vegetable stalls.
All of this is to help people get safer food when they order online.

Before onboarding, platforms must verify the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence number, validity, and business category of each establishment.
CMC also demanded measures preventing multiple establishments from operating under a single FSSAI licence and stronger compliance checks before reinstating non-compliant outlets.
CMC Commissioner G. Srijana said the companies responded positively and announced next enforcement drives targeting meat-selling stores, followed by vegetable stalls.
