Sigma Advanced Systems has started making airplane parts at a new factory in Sri City.
The factory was built and started operating in only eight months.
Its first parts were sent to the company’s UK team for checking.
The factory can currently work for 100,000 machine-hours each year.
It may eventually grow to nearly 300,000 machine-hours annually.
Sigma wants to move more of its airplane-parts production to India.
The company expects about 70% of the process to happen in India after expansion.
It also plans to train workers in special aerospace manufacturing skills.

The facility moved from construction to active production in eight months, and its first component batch was sent to the company’s UK operations for verification.
The 75,000-square-foot facility currently supports 100,000 machining hours annually and is designed to reach nearly 300,000 hours.
Sigma plans to shift about 70% of its aerospace manufacturing process to India after the planned expansion is completed.
The facility has completed initial source-change approval stages with Rolls-Royce Aerospace and plans to provide on-campus skills training.
