Indore Municipal Corporation Banks on Bamboo to Curb Soil Erosion
The city of Indore wants to stop the soil next to its rivers and ponds from washing away.
When soil washes away, it is called soil erosion.
Rain can carry soil into the water, which damages the land and makes rivers muddy.
To fix this, the city will plant bamboo plants along the banks.
Bamboo has strong roots that hold the soil in place, kind of like a net.
The city's main officer, Mr. Singhal, gave this order while checking park work.
He visited places like Sirpur Lake and Rajiv Gandhi Square.
He also asked workers to plant more trees in empty spaces along roads.
This will make the city greener and keep the land safe.
The Indore Municipal Corporation will plant bamboo along the banks of rivers and ponds across the city to prevent soil erosion.
Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal issued the directions during an inspection of plantation works on Thursday morning.
Sites inspected included Sirpur Lake, Manik Bagh Road, the Choithram area, Rajiv Gandhi Square and Nahar Bhandara.
Officials were also directed to undertake gap-filling plantation across all green belts and road dividers, including along the Ring Road.
At Manik Bagh Devi Ahilya New Garden and Choithram Mandi, officials were told to assess existing plants and plant in vacant spaces.
