For the first time ever, the national song 'Vande Mataram' was sung at this special ceremony.

An army band played music while the guests sang along.

The Prime Minister then raised the Indian flag, and everyone sang the National Anthem.

People in many states and cities, like Patna, Kolkata, and Agartala, also celebrated with their own flag-hoisting events.
