Bhopal Comes To Standstill After Heavy Rain Triggers Traffic Jams
It rained very hard in a city called Bhopal, and the streets filled with water like giant puddles.
Cars got stuck in long traffic jams because the roads were too full of water.
This happened for two days in a row.
Many different parts of the city, like Old Bhopal and Kolar, had problems with water on the roads.
In some places, like Aishbag, the rainwater went inside people's houses.
In Kolar, water got into building basements because drains were overflowing and some civic works were unfinished.
A big lake called Upper Lake rose by about three feet in two days.
The lake still has some room before it reaches its full tank level.
Many drivers could not move anywhere, so the whole city came to a standstill.
Heavy rainfall on Tuesday brought Bhopal to a standstill, causing waterlogging and traffic jams for the second consecutive day.
Traffic jams were reported on Hoshangabad Road, Board Office, Jyoti Talkies, 1100 Quarters, Hanuman Mandir and in Kolar.
Waterlogging hit Old Bhopal areas including Itwara, Nadra Bus Stand and Jumerati, where the wholesale market was affected.
Upper Lake's water level rose by about three feet in two days to 1663.20ft, still below its Full Tank Level of 1666.8ft.
In Kolar, waterlogging persisted in low-lying colonies, apartment basements and Kolar Road due to overflowing drains and unfinished civic infrastructure.
Rainwater entered houses in low-lying areas such as Aishbag, while Shiv Nagar, Oriya Basti and other colonies also faced waterlogging.
