Telangana minister launches free sewing machine scheme for BC women
Telangana is a state in India, and its government is giving free sewing machines to women who need help earning money.
A state leader named Ponnam Prabhakar announced the new program.
It is called 'Intinta Indiramma Kuttu Machines,' which means Indiramma sewing machines in households.
Each sewing machine costs 12,000 rupees, but the women will not have to pay anything for it.
The goal is to help women who do not have jobs to become self-employed, meaning they can earn money on their own.
The program will give machines to 1,000 women in each of the 119 assembly areas, which adds up to 119,000 women in total.
Women who are widows, orphans, or have disabilities will be chosen first.
Women can apply for the program between August 15 and September 15.
This way, more women can earn a living by sewing at home.
Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched the 'Intinta Indiramma Kuttu Machines' scheme on Thursday, August 13, providing free sewing machines to BC women.
Each machine costs Rs 12,000 and will be provided free of cost to beneficiaries with a 100 per cent subsidy.
Applications for the scheme will be accepted from August 15 to September 15.
The first phase will distribute 1,000 machines in each of Telangana's 119 assembly constituencies, totalling 1,19,000 machines.
Priority will be given to widows, orphans, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, and beneficiaries will receive mandatory training.
