Maharashtra Plans 1,756 New Ambulances Under 108 Service
Maharashtra is preparing many new ambulances for its emergency medical service.
The state says 1,756 ambulances will be added to the 108 service.
Some ambulances will help people with serious medical emergencies, while others will help newborn babies.
There will also be bike and boat ambulances for places that are difficult to reach.
The vehicles will have equipment such as oxygen systems, ECG machines and ventilators.
Medical workers will be able to speak directly with hospital doctors for advice.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected the ambulances in Mumbai.
Officials were told to put them into service quickly.
The government plans to launch 150 ambulances during the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
