Gujarat Emergency Services Mark 19 Years Of Life-Saving Response
Gujarat has an emergency service called 108 that people can call for urgent help.
It started in 2007 and has answered nearly 1.99 crore emergency cases.
Most of these cases needed medical help, but the service also responds to police and fire emergencies.
The service says it has helped save more than 19.66 lakh lives.
Ambulances respond about every 21 seconds somewhere in the state.
They have helped pregnant women, accident victims, and people with breathing or heart problems.
Gujarat also has a newer emergency number called 112.
It connects callers with police, ambulances, fire services, and other types of assistance.
Staff and emergency vehicles work all day and night to help people quickly.
Gujarat’s 108 service has handled nearly 1.99 crore emergencies since launching on August 29, 2007.
The service reports helping save more than 19.66 lakh lives and travelling over 62 crore kilometres.
Medical emergencies accounted for more than 1.96 crore calls, alongside police and fire-related cases.
108 has responded to nearly 63 lakh pregnancy and childbirth emergencies and facilitated over 1.64 lakh deliveries.
Gujarat’s 112 helpline handled more than 10 lakh calls in its first year and now has 1,000 Janrakshak vehicles.
