Odisha Approves Rs 54,000 Crore Water Infrastructure Projects

Odisha is building many projects to help people save and use water.

The state approved projects costing Rs 54,000 crore in two years.

These projects have helped bring irrigation water to 3.2 lakh hectares of farmland.

Workers built check dams, storage structures, wells and lift irrigation systems.

Some wells use solar power to help rural communities.

Rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge projects are also being built.

More than 40,000 Pani Panchayats are helping manage irrigation.

The Kanupur Project, delayed since 2003-04, has now been completed.

Its canal network is expected to provide water to another 25,000 hectares within the next year.
