Delhi Mercedes Driver Says 'Beer Hai' After Crash Kills 70-Year-Old
Early on a Saturday morning in Delhi's Narela area, two cars crashed into each other — a silver Mercedes and a smaller Maruti WagonR.
The crash pushed the smaller car backwards into a parked three-wheeler.
A 70-year-old woman named Urmila, who was feeding pigeons nearby, got caught between the cars and died on the way to the hospital.
Three people in the smaller car — a couple and their young daughter — were injured too.
A bottle of beer was seen inside the Mercedes.
When asked what the bottle was, the driver, Shubham Sharma, replied 'beer hai,' which means 'it is beer.'
Police also found liquor bottles in the vehicle.
Sharma was arrested at the scene.
Police took a blood sample to check whether he was drunk, and results are still awaited.
If alcohol is confirmed, he may face extra charges.
