Two Held in East Delhi Handbag Theft Case
Police in Delhi arrested two men after a passenger’s handbag disappeared from a cab.
The passenger was Neetu Arora.
She had hired the cab to travel between malls in Shahdara and Preet Vihar.
Near Nirman Vihar, she briefly got out to buy some things.
Police said the driver then drove away with her handbag still inside.
The bag contained a phone, gold rings, money, a watch and other belongings.
Investigators checked CCTV cameras and used technical surveillance to find the cab.
Police said the driver sold the rings to a jeweller, and both men were arrested.
Delhi Police arrested cab driver Amit Sharma and jeweller Ajay Kapoor over the alleged theft.
The passenger, Neetu Arora, reportedly left her handbag inside the cab after briefly stepping out near Nirman Vihar.
The handbag allegedly contained a smartphone, two gold rings, cash, a branded watch and other valuables.
Police used CCTV footage and technical surveillance to trace the cab and apprehend Sharma near Seemapuri Gol Chakkar.
Police said Sharma sold the gold rings to Kapoor for Rs 95,000 and recovered several items, including the rings.
