Four Arrested in Alleged Uttarakhand Theft of Valuables
A house in Shimla was robbed of jewellery, cash, and other valuable items.
The stolen property was worth more than Rs 1 crore.
Police suspected that a domestic helper was involved because the helper disappeared after the theft.
Investigators learned that the goods were being taken toward Nepal through Uttarakhand.
A vehicle carrying the goods was stopped at an excise checkpoint near Rudrapur.
Police allege that four people at the checkpoint took some of the seized items for themselves.
The four included two excise officials, a UPNL employee, and a PRD member.
Police say they recovered about 80 per cent of the stolen property.
Four people, including an Excise Department sub-inspector and constable, were arrested in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.
Police allege the group misappropriated valuables stolen from a house in Shimla, worth more than Rs 1 crore.
The stolen property included gold and diamond jewellery, silver coins, cash of about Rs 1.5 lakh, and other valuables.
Approximately 80 per cent of the stolen items was allegedly recovered from the accused.
Himachal Pradesh Police took the four accused into custody after a joint investigation with Udham Singh Nagar Police.
