Bengaluru Launches 1.04 Lakh Sapling Drive
Bengaluru is planting a lot of trees to make the city greener.
From August 15 to September 15, the city will put 104,000 saplings in parks, streets, and homes.
People who want trees can apply, and the city will give them 40,000 free saplings.
The trees will be native species that can survive the city’s weather.
Every tree will have a GPS tag so the city can check how it grows.
The plan costs about 9.64 crore rupees and will help keep Bengaluru green for the future.
Greater Bengaluru Authority launches ‘Bengaluru Hasiruru’ to plant 104,000 saplings from Aug 15 to Sept 15.
43,409 applications for free saplings received before the deadline.
Five city corporations will plant 64,000 saplings; 40,000 will be distributed free to residents and RWAs.
Campaign focuses on native species such as Mahogany, Honge, Neem, Jamun, Tabebuia, and Rosea.
₹9.64 crore earmarked; each sapling costs ₹1,880 to plant and maintain, with geo‑tagging for monitoring.
