Grand Varalakshmi Vratam Celebrated at Padmavathi Temple
Many women went to a temple near Tirupati to celebrate Varalakshmi Vratam.
This is a special prayer for Goddess Padmavathi.
They prayed for prosperity, good health and the well-being of their families.
Priests performed several traditional prayers and rituals.
The goddess wore a golden saree and was decorated with many flowers and nine sacred knots.
Twelve kinds of food were offered during the ceremony.
The temple was decorated with flowers, fruits and statues.
Screens and a live broadcast helped devotees watch the event.
In the evening, the goddess was taken around the temple in a golden chariot.
A large number of women devotees participated in Varalakshmi Vratam at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur near Tirupati on Friday.
Priests performed Lakshmi Sahasranamarchana, Ashtothara Shatanamavali and other rituals for Goddess Padmavathi.
The goddess was decorated with traditional flowers, a golden saree and nine sacred knots before 12 varieties of naivedyam were offered.
TTD used nearly three tonnes of traditional flowers and about 30,000 cut flowers of 14 varieties for decorations prepared by around 60 personnel over three days.
Devotees received special arrangements including queues, food, water and buttermilk, while the rituals were shown live and followed by a golden chariot procession.
