E20 Fuel Introduced After Scientific Validation, Says Suresh Gopi
The Indian government told Parliament that it has started using a new type of petrol that mixes ethanol with regular petrol.
They did this step by step, making sure scientists and experts checked it first.
They talked with car makers, oil companies, and research groups to make sure it would work well.
The Minister of State for Petroleum, Suresh Gopi, wrote a reply in Parliament to explain the plan.
This new fuel is called E20 because it has 20% ethanol.
Government informed Parliament that the Ethanol Blended Petrol programme has been implemented.
Implementation followed a phased, scientifically validated, consultative process.
Consultations included NITI Aayog, automobile manufacturers, OMCs, ARAI, SIAM, IIP, and other technical institutions.
Higher ethanol blends were rolled out only after extensive consultation with manufacturers, SIAM, ARAI, component manufacturers, testing agencies, and OMCs.
Minister Suresh Gopi provided a written reply to a Lok Sabha question confirming the rollout.
