West Bengal Transfers ₹6,000 Crore, Renames Scheme 'Paschim Banga Awas'
The government of West Bengal, a state in India, is helping families build their own homes.
It sent money directly to the bank accounts of more than 10 lakh families.
Lakh means one hundred thousand, so that is over a million families.
The money, about six thousand crore rupees, is the second part of the housing help.
A crore is a very large number—it is ten million rupees.
The housing plan used to be called 'Banglar Bari' by the earlier government.
Now, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari renamed it 'Paschim Banga Awas'.
He started the programme at Nabanna Sabhaghar in Kolkata and gave out some cheques as a symbol.
He also asked families to finish building their houses and use other government help like solar power schemes.
The government also plans a 'Tiranga Yatra' to give out about 70 lakh national flags.

Adhikari announced a 'Tiranga Yatra' on August 10 with about 70 lakh national flags to be distributed and a special Assembly session on August 12.
