Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm amid persistent Question Hour disruptions
The Rajya Sabha is one part of India's Parliament where important discussions happen.
On Tuesday, the people in charge of the Rajya Sabha had to pause the session because it was too noisy.
Some members, called the Opposition, were shouting and making it hard to talk.
Other members, called the treasury benches, also started making noise in response.
The Chairman, a person who keeps the House in order, tried to calm everyone down.
He said only certain topics that were already listed could be discussed.
The Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, wanted to talk about other issues, but the Chairman said no.
The Chairman said state-level topics could not be raised every day because they only disrupt the proceedings.
The questions that were supposed to be asked were about renewable energy, the kind of energy from the sun and wind.
Because everyone kept shouting, the Chairman stopped the meeting until 2 p.m.
so everyone could calm down.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. on Tuesday after continuous sloganeering by Opposition members and retaliatory ruckus from treasury benches disrupted Question Hour.
It was the second adjournment of the day for the House.
Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan rejected attempts by Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to raise certain issues, stating that state subjects would not be entertained.
The Chairman noted treasury benches had also sought state-specific matters, including the Jharkhand issue, but those requests were disallowed.
Question Hour formally commenced on the Department of Renewable Energy, but slogans continued throughout and the House was adjourned as the disruption did not abate.
During the chaos, the Chairman ruled that G.C. Chandrashekhar's intervention would not go on record and only members sticking to listed questions could speak.
