Rajya Sabha Adjourned Sine Die, Ending Stormy Monsoon Session
The Rajya Sabha, which is one of the two houses of India's Parliament, has finished its Monsoon Session.
This means the house has stopped meeting for now, a decision called 'adjourned sine die.'
The other house, called the Lok Sabha, had already stopped meeting too.
On the last day, the members skipped their usual morning routines like Question Hour and Zero Hour.
Instead, they discussed and quickly passed a law called the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill.
The chairman of the house, C P Radhakrishnan, spoke about the work done during the session.
The session started on July 20, and it was a stormy one with lots of shouting and interruptions.
Opposition members were upset about things like the way police treated students protesting about a test called NEET and money said to be missing from a temple in Ayodhya.
Even so, the house managed to pass several other laws during the session.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Thursday, August 13, ending the stormy Monsoon Session.
The Lok Sabha had earlier been adjourned sine die as well.
The Upper House passed the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill by voice vote after dispensing with Zero Hour and Question Hour.
The Monsoon Session, which began on July 20, witnessed repeated disruptions and adjournments.
