India's software exports surge 21.5 per cent in FY26
India makes a lot of computer software and sends it to other countries.
The software parks set up by the government help companies do this.
In the fiscal year 2025-26, these exports were worth Rs 7.73 lakh crore.
That is a big increase of about 21.5 per cent compared to two years earlier.
However, the money companies invested in these parks went down for the third year in a row.
The amount of software the parks imported stayed about the same.
The number of software park units grew to 2,125.
Karnataka is the state that exports the most software.
Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Telangana also have many software park units.
India's big technology hubs remain very strong.
India's Software Technology Park (STP) units recorded estimated exports of Rs 7.73 lakh crore in FY 2025-26, a 21.56 per cent rise from Rs 6.36 lakh crore in FY 2023-24.
The export data was shared by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), under whose 100 per cent export-oriented scheme STP units operate.
Investment by STP units declined for the third consecutive year, falling from Rs 10,709.92 crore in FY24 to Rs 7,362.86 crore in FY26, while imports remained broadly stable.
The number of STP units rose to 2,125 in FY26, with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu hosting 391 units each, followed by Maharashtra with 367 and Telangana with 280.
Karnataka led exports over the three-year period with Rs 3,50,184.78 crore, followed by Maharashtra with Rs 1,62,594.11 crore and Telangana with Rs 1,13,101.83 crore.
