Pakistan Deploys Chinese SH-15 Artillery Near India Border
Pakistan has put a lot of new Chinese artillery guns called SH-15 on the road near the border with India.
These guns can shoot far and are better than older ones.
They were ordered in 2019 and started arriving in 2022, with more in 2023.
Pakistan also got a deal to make the guns at a local factory.
The guns are mainly in places like Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Jalalpur Jattan, which are close to the border.
This move is part of Pakistan’s plan to upgrade its weapons because India is also getting new guns.
The new guns can fire special shells that travel more than 50 kilometres.
India is also buying new guns and working on its own wheeled gun system.
Pakistan has deployed a large number of Chinese-made SH-15 wheeled self‑propelled artillery guns along sectors facing India.
The SH-15, a 155mm 52‑calibre system from Norinco, was ordered in 2019 with deliveries starting in 2022 and a second batch in 2023.
Most guns are positioned in Gujranwala, Sialkot and Jalalpur Jattan, behind the Shakargarh bulge, strengthening long‑range firepower near the border.
Islamabad secured a Transfer of Technology agreement to locally manufacture the SH‑15 at Heavy Industries Taxila.
The deployment is part of Pakistan’s broader artillery modernization program, mirroring India’s own upgrades.
