Heavy Rain Forecast for Bengal as Bay System Intensifies
A weather system has formed over the Bay of Bengal.
It may become a stronger storm called a deep depression.
Parts of West Bengal could get heavy rain from September 22 to 25.
The coastal districts may receive the strongest rain and winds.
Some winds could reach 40-50 kilometres per hour.
Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in several districts.
Rain is expected in northern districts such as Darjeeling and Cooch Behar.
Fishermen were told to stay out of the sea on September 21 and 22.

The Bay of Bengal low-pressure area may intensify into a deep depression near the southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh coast.
Coastal districts Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas may see stronger rain and winds of 40-50 kmph.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are forecast in parts of south and north Bengal, including Kolkata.
The IMD advised fishermen not to venture into the Bay of Bengal on September 21 and 22.
