India Post pilot helps Gujarat FPOs double business through MyStore

India Post pilot helps Gujarat FPOs double business through MyStore
India Post’s pilot in Gujarat helps 5 FPOs overcome logistic challenges, business doubles · thehindubusinessline.com

India Post is like the country's postal service that delivers letters and packages.

In the state of Gujarat, farmers who work together in groups called FPOs wanted to sell their food items like snacks, spices and lentils online.

Earlier, sending these small packages cost too much money, so many buyers stopped shopping.

India Post started a special trial plan to help these farmer groups.

The groups keep their products inside post office buildings, and when someone orders through the MyStore app, post office staff pack and deliver the parcel.

Since the trial began in November 2025, the farmer groups have delivered more than 40,000 items.

One group, Ranmal FPC, has delivered over 30,000 items on its own.

India Post charges the same delivery fees as for regular customers, but gives bulk discounts.

The trial has expanded from Ahmedabad to six more cities in Gujarat, and more farmer groups want to join.

Quotes

Ganesh Sawaleshwarkar

Gujarat head of India Post and chief postmaster general

“For various agro products in Gujarat, produced by FPOs, we are providing them space for storage. They keep their inventory with us and they are also listed through ONDC on the MyStore App. Whenever any order comes on the App, we being the logistic partner, get it on our dashboard and within 10‑15 minutes that consignment is prepared for dispatch.”
