DFCCIL launches rapid parcel train linking NCR to Gujarat
India has launched a brand-new train service that carries parcels and goods really fast.
The train is called the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service.
It runs between New Dadri in Uttar Pradesh and New Ancheli in Gujarat.
That journey is about 1,200 kilometers long and takes around 23 hours.
Before this train, parcels could only be carried up to the city of Ahmedabad.
Now packages can also reach Surat and Mumbai.
Businesses can book space on the train online, up to 180 days before they need it.
The service combines trucks and trains so packages can travel from door to door.
It is especially useful for online shopping companies and makers of everyday goods.
Moving parcels by train instead of truck is better for the environment because trucks create a lot of air pollution.
DFCCIL launched the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, linking NCR and Northern India with Gujarat's industrial centres.
The service operates between New Dadri station in Uttar Pradesh and New Ancheli station in Gujarat, covering about 1,200 km in approximately 23 hours.
Until now, parcel service through NMGHS wagons catered mainly to destinations up to Ahmedabad; the new service extends parcel traffic to Surat and Mumbai-bound shipments.
The up-direction service began August 18, 2026, and the down-direction service from New Ancheli will commence August 20, 2026.
DFCCIL said the service offers integrated rail-and-road logistics, digital booking via the Virtual Aggregation Platform up to 180 days in advance, and annual revenue potential of roughly Rs 76 crore.
