Kozhikode man in girlfriend's death case dies after consuming poison

A man in a city in India called Kozhikode got very sick and died after drinking something poisonous.

The man's name was Vaisakhan K and he was 35 years old.

Police say he was arrested earlier this year because they thought he was involved in his girlfriend's death.

They say he told his girlfriend that they would end their lives together and called her to a workshop.

While they were getting ready to hang themselves, Vaisakhan stepped down and knocked over the stool she was standing on.

This caused his girlfriend to fall and die.

Vaisakhan was let out of jail on bail a short time ago.

The police had finished their investigation into the girlfriend's death and sent the case to court.

Now police are also looking into how Vaisakhan died.

His body will be handed to his family after a post-mortem examination.
