IIT Madras Chief Discusses Exam Security
V Kamakoti, the Director of IIT Madras, talked about how the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has become much bigger over the years, with 1.5 million students taking it now compared to just 5,000 when he took it in 1985.
He explained that the exam has evolved from paper-based to computer-based testing, using many new technologies to keep it secure.
Kamakoti mentioned that the recent NEET exam leak happened because lessons from 2024 were not followed, and the recommendations of the Radhakrishnan Committee were not fully implemented.
He emphasized that the root of trust failed, leading to the leak.
Kamakoti is part of a task force formed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reform exams and prevent leaks.
JEE exams have grown from 5,000 to 1.5 million aspirants since 1985.
