Reliance, Rolls-Royce partner to develop indigenous AMCA combat engine

India wants to build its own brand-new fighter jet called the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft, or AMCA.

A fighter jet needs a very powerful engine, and India wants to make that engine by itself.

Two big companies, Reliance Industries from India and Rolls-Royce from Britain, said they want to build the engine together.

They plan to create a special factory and research center in India where the engine would be designed, built, and tested.

Rolls-Royce has been making airplane engines for more than one hundred years.

Reliance is a very big Indian company, and it will bring its factories and building skills to the project.

The plan is part of India's dream called 'Atmanirbhar Bharat,' which means being self-reliant.

The new AMCA jet will be a stealth fighter, which means it is hard for enemies to see on radar.

The first few AMCA planes will still use an engine made by an American company, and later versions will use the new Indian-made engine.

The companies said this is just the start of their idea — they have not signed a final contract yet.
