Guntur, Vijayawada Ward-60 Rank Second in Clean Air Survey
The Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan checks how cities are working to make their air cleaner.
Guntur in Andhra Pradesh came second in its category across India.
Vijayawada’s Ward-60 also came second in its ward category.
Guntur received Rs 25 lakh, while Ward-60 received Rs 30 lakh.
Guntur improved from sixth place in the previous survey.
Several other Andhra Pradesh cities also moved up in the rankings.
Officials said better teamwork and regular monitoring helped.
They plan to continue reducing road dust, waste burning and pollution from vehicles and industries.
Guntur secured All-India Rank 2 in Category-II of the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2026 with a score of 195.
Vijayawada’s Ward-60 also ranked second nationally in Category-II and received a Rs 30 lakh award.
Guntur received a Rs 25 lakh national award after improving from Rank 6 in 2025.
Eluru, Nellore, Vijayawada, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam also improved their city rankings.
The assessment examined dust, waste burning, emissions, particulate matter reduction and public awareness efforts.
